Recap – Privacy Policy

Your privacy is at the core of everything we do at Recap. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have concerning your data.

1. Introduction This policy applies to your use of the Recap mobile application (the “Service”). By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect
 a) Information You Provide Directly:
   ● Account Information: When you register, you provide us with information such as your name, email address, and password.
   ● Profile Information: You may choose to add more information to your profile, such as a profile picture and a bio.
   ● User Content: We collect the content you create, including photos, videos, text, captions, and comments within Recaps.
   ● Communications: We collect information when you contact us for support or provide feedback.
 b) Face Verification Data: To create a trusted and safe community, we require face verification during registration.
   ● What We Collect: We use your device’s camera to capture a scan of your facial geometry.
   ● How We Use It: This scan is converted into a secure, encrypted biometric template. We use this template only for the purpose of verifying your identity and ensuring you do not create duplicate or fake accounts.
   ● How We Store It: We do not store the original face scan. We only store the secure template. This template cannot be reverse-engineered to reconstruct your face.
   ● Sharing: We do not share your face verification data or biometric template with any third-party advertisers or data brokers. It is used exclusively for the security and integrity of the Recap platform.
 c) Information We Collect Automatically:
   ● Usage Data: We collect information about how you use the Service, such as the features you use, the Recaps you view, and the time and duration of your activities.
   ● Device Information: We collect information about your device, such as its operating system, device identifiers, and IP address.

3. How We Use Your Information We use your information for the following purposes:
   ● To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
   ● To verify your identity and secure your account.
   ● To allow you to create and share User Content and collaborate with others.
   ● To communicate with you, including sending service-related notifications and responding to your inquiries.
   ● To enforce our Terms of Use and prevent prohibited activities.
   ● We do not sell your personal data to third-party advertisers. Our business model is not based on advertising.

4. How We Share Your Information We may share your information in the following situations:
   ● With Other Recap Users: Your profile information and the User Content you choose to share in a Recap will be visible to other users as directed by you and your privacy settings.
   ● With Service Providers: We may share information with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting (e.g., AWS), data analytics, and customer support. They are obligated to protect your data and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
   ● For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request.

5. Data Storage and Security We use commercially reasonable security measures to protect your information from loss, theft, and unauthorized access. However, no electronic transmission or storage system is 100% secure. We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service.

6. Your Rights and Choices You have rights and choices regarding your information:
   ● Access and Correction: You can access and update most of your profile information through your account settings.
   ● Deletion: You can delete your account at any time from the settings menu. Deleting your account will permanently delete your profile and associated User Content in accordance with our data retention policies.
   ● Communications: You can opt-out of receiving promotional communications from us by following the instructions in those messages.

7. Children’s Privacy Our Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.

8. International Data Transfers Your information may be transferred to, and maintained on, computers located outside of your state, province, or country where the data protection laws may differ.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the “Last Updated” date.
